The Collie as a Working Dog
In American Kennel Club (AKC) shows, the Collie is a member of the Herding Group of dogs. With a heritage of protecting and controlling flocks of animals for their human companions, Collies have both beauty and brains.
In today’s world, few Collies have the opportunity to herd sheep but they can excel at many canine sports as well as being loyal, faithful companions to family members. Collies also serve as service animals and as therapy dogs, visiting hospitals and senior centers.
